TAMSO is a creative and development agency based in Sydney specialising in building brands and websites for their clients. In this project, as a design intern at TAMSO, I was assigned the task of building a new website for the agency - modernise the visual design, improve user experience, and showcase their portfolio in a way that would attract new clients.
As the lead designer and developer in this project, I was responsible for the end-to-end process from research, branding, design, wireframes, development to client-driven iterations.

THE PROBLEM
TAMSO’s previous website did not effectively communicate the company’s current services, nor did it fully showcase the company’s creative capabilities.
Additionally, the company’s brand and visual identity needed to be updated to distinguish it as a competitor in the design market.

Discover
How can we better understand the problem, what am I building?
brainstorming
To understand the direction of the website and our agency’s vision, I collected data from team members in the company with a brainstorm.

Competitor analysis
To ensure the redesigned website positioned the agency competitively, I analysed the websites of leading design agencies. The analysis focused on visual design, brand identity, and presentation of case studies.
One of the main things that stood out to me – the best websites had micro interactions and designs located subtlety throughout the website and this was something that I also wanted to incorporate into the TAMSO website.

What do our findings from the “discover” phase mean?
Brain writing
In this stage, I decided to do some solo brain writing. What could I do with the information at hand. This is what I came up with:

Handwriting in random places to show friendliness and can evoke trust.

Subtle decorations in the background to show creativity while adding subtle complexity through layering.

Highlighted key words to emphasise the result-driven nature of the company and focus.

Cool micro web-interactions to keep users engaged.
branding
To present the company as more trustworthy and friendly, the addition of random handwriting was an idea I wanted to incorporate into the website and would also be a nice creative touch.
To create a logo and establish a visual aesthetic, I focused on what made TAMSO unique – TAMSO prides itself on faster than average website design and development whilst still maintaining high quality. Also, the tag line of the agency: “SUPERCHARGE YOUR BUSINESS” also served as some inspiration. The company also wanted their logo to be simple, using basic geometric shapes. The lightning bolt represents speed and “supercharging”. I also added other branding assets, colours, backgrounds as well as mockups of merchandise and business cards the company could potentially create.

Developing the ideas for the website and visualising the design before building
wireframes
To start, we used Relume to construct some general wireframes to establish the structure of the website.

Mockups
From our wireframes, we constructed our lo-fidelity mockups then hi-fidelity mockups – a close visualisation to what our final website will look like.

Deliver
Building our website and making adjustments based off of client feedback
Development
I built the website using Webflow, focusing on creating a responsive and visually engaging design that mirrored the previously created hi-fidelity mockups. I integrated web animations and interactive elements to enhance user engagement and ensured that the site was optimised for mobile and desktop use.

Re-Iterations
The development process involved multiple iterations to ensure the final website met the client's expectations. Feedback from the agency guided key improvements, such as:
Web animation improvements
Visual tweaks to better match the client’s aesthetic preferences
Navigation optimisation

results
The website launch was made with the company's social media debut, serving as a central funnel for viewers to engage with TAMSO. This strategic alignment increased the likelihood of generating leads and attracting new clients. As the company's digital face, the website played a significant role in its growth.

challenges & takeaways
One of the key challenges I faced was balancing my creative vision with TAMSO’s preferences. There were features I was excited about, such as certain interactive elements and designs, that the client ultimately did not find suitable for their brand. Although slightly discouraging, this required me to step back, re-evaluate the design, and ideate new solutions that aligned with their vision while maintaining a high-quality user experience.
This process taught me the importance of flexibility and reinforced the value of client collaboration to achieve a result that everyone was proud of.
